On Sunday the 10th June 2018, over 60 local and international runners will be tackling the Comrades Marathon in aid of HACT (Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust) – one of six official charities of this year’s 90km ultra marathon. As the charity’s exclusive branding partner, Expand a Sign has proudly sponsored a full package of branding products for HACT’s Run for Hope Comrades Campaign – including 10 x Flying Banners, a WondaSign exhibition setup, a Gazebo and a Giant Inflatable Arch that all Comrades runners will run under on race day.
With infection rates as high as 40%, the Valley of 1000 Hills region of KwaZulu-Natal is currently considered one of the epicentres of the global HIV/AIDS pandemic. Here, HACT is working tirelessly to bring hope to those both infected and affected by the disease.
Founder of the Beloved Long Runs KZN community running group and one of HACT’s official 2018 Comrades Ambassadors, Dean Wight is personally aiming to raise R100 000 for HACT before race day. Having already raised over R80 000, Dean is well on his way to reaching his target and is currently sitting at the top of Comrades’ Race for Charity leader board. “I’m just a passionate runner, wanting to support a really great local charity,” says a very humble, Dean.
As part of his efforts to raise funds and awareness about HACT’s much needed services, Dean has organised a number of long distance training runs for local runners from the charity’s centre which has also provided HACT with the ideal opportunity to showcase its newly sponsored branding from Expand a Sign. HACT’s Marketing & Fundraising Manager, Claire Hodgkinson tells us; “The reaction to our new branding has been fantastic and we are just so grateful to the entire Expand a Sign team for their generosity and support. Our new branding has really given our campaign the wow factor and we can’t wait to really make a statement with it on race day!”
