Q: Why should I wear a reusable face mask?
A: Firstly, there is a worldwide shortage of medical face masks and these should be prioritised for medical personnel.
Secondly, it’s a more sustainable option. China is producing around 200 million single-use face masks a day and these will ultimately end up in landfills and in our oceans.

Q: Why is a fitted face mask better?
A: Our fitted face masks have fewer gaps therefore there is less chance of infected droplets reaching your face.

Q: Do your fabric masks meet the necessary requirements?
A: Our masks are 100% compliant and exceed the South African government’s recommended guidelines for fabric face masks manufactured by South Africa’s clothing and textile manufacturing industry for general public use 9 April 2020.

Q: What makes your masks unique?
A: We manufacture our face masks with an antimicrobial and water-repellent finish. The antimicrobial and water repellency are not affected by the washing of the face mask.
The antimicrobial is bluesign® APPROVED and Standard 100 by OKEO-TEX®.

Q: What is antimicrobial?
A: An antimicrobial destroys or inhibits the growth of microorganisms and especially pathogenic microorganisms.

Q: Why is a water-repellent necessary?
A: The novel coronavirus is spread through infected droplets. The use of a water-repellent coating prevents these droplets from settling on our face masks.

Q: What is an autoclave machine test?
A: Autoclaves are used in medical applications to perform sterilisation. Our face masks have been tested and certified through Rob Dyer Surgical with SANAS certified calibration equipment.

Q: Why do your face masks offer 3 layer protection?
A: Outer layer – The outer layer serves as the first barrier of protection. It is a 100% polyester woven fabric, with an antimicrobial and water repellent finish. The antimicrobial kills any microbes that are deposited on the outer surface from touching or breathing, while the water repellent prevents water and oil droplets from penetrating through the outer layer.
Filter layer – The filter is a 2.4mm thick needle punched polyester nonwoven that provides the primary filtration of the face mask. The random orientation of the nonwoven fibres creates a fibrous web to trap particles and optimise filtration without impeding breathing. This nonwoven filter is traditionally used as one of the filtration layers in N95 masks.
Inner layer – The inner layer is a knitted polyester that has a soft finish to provide maximum comfort for wearing. It forms the third barrier of protection.
